On December 13, the Los Angeles City Council adopted the linkage fee, which will create the first dedicated local revenue source for affordable housing in the history of LA.

Los Angeles is currently short 32,000 units of housing for low and very low-income residents. The passing of the linkage fee should result in about $100 million a year that will be spent on addressing this critical need of housing for homeless and/or extremely poor residents. It will double the city’s annual affordable housing production and is a critical step in addressing the housing crisis in LA.
