With three unhoused people dying every day in L.A. what’s needed is more housing NOW! Elected leaders must spend a bigger share of the homeless budget on fostering innovative solutions. Specifically, city, state and federal officials can provide land and resources to concrete proposals such as eCo2LA.
Technology is changing the way we think about housing and how it’s built — prefabricated, energy efficient and architecturally consistent with any neighborhood. eCo2LA embodies this trend, helping drive decarbonization and developing workers’ skills in low-energy construction. Mobile RVs, manufactured homes, shipping container apartments and 3D printed homes can provide stable housing faster, at a fraction of the cost of conventional construction.
