What: Skid Row Town Hall w/ Peter Lynn, LAHSA CEO – 2019 Homeless Count Report-Out
Where: Los Angeles Community Action Network (LA CAN), 838 E. 6th Street, L. A., CA 90021
When: Tuesday, June 25th, 2019 at 6:00 pm
The Los Angeles Community Action Network (LA CAN) will host a town hall during which Peter Lynn, Executive Director LAHSA, will present findings of the 2019 Homeless Count in Skid Row.
Earlier this month, Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) released the results of the 2019 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count, which revealed a 12% increase among Angelenos experiencing homelessness. Mayor Garcetti and other elected officials have expressed surprise at the results; the community however, is not surprised. Given the misuse of funds allocated to address homelessness and the lack of action taken to tackle the problem, a continuing rise in houselessness is a certainty.
This is an opportunity for impacted communities to provide solutions to this crisis; lift apparent gaps in data that do not address the specific and unique needs of sub populations; make government bodies more responsive to the direct needs and voices of those most impacted and; share the recent public health proposals moving through city hall.
